In August 2016, IRONSTAR international triathlon competitions will take place in Kazan, the capital of Universiade 2013 and the 16th FINA World Championships. On Saturday, August 27, the Russian Triathlon Cup IRONSTAR SPRINT TRIATHLON KAZAN 2016 will be held over the distances: 0.75-km swim, 20-km bike, 5 km-run. Then on Sunday, August 28, The Russian Cup IRONSTAR 113 KAZAN 2016 will be held over the half-iron distance: 1.93-km swim, 90-km bike, 21.1-km run.

IRONSTAR representatives have already visited Kazan and examined the venues where the stages of the competitions will be held, and have discussed the organizational issues with the city administration and the Ministry of Sports officials.

“The two-day visit included several detailed meetings where the best itineraries, the disposition of the starting camp, the technical requirements to the water area, cycling and run courses were discussed”, - Andrey Kavun, IRONSTAR CEO, comments. He emphasized that the swimming stage is being organized using the 16th FINA World Championships’ experience in holding open water competitions.
“Every time I visit Kazan I find myself impressed with the venue chosen as a start area and the main scene of the competition – the city centre, the Kremlin, the Agricultural Palace – one hardly can think of a better place for a sports weekend!”, - Andrey Kavun says. IRONSTAR organizing committee thanked the Tatarstan Republic government and the administration of the city for their support of the project, and Sergey Akulchev, a businessman and IRONMAN finisher, for his wholehearted willingness to work efficiently on organizing world class triathlon competitions for IRONSTAR.
