There were presented new distance formats, unique for the Russian triathlon, i.e. ⅛ and ¼ of the full "iron" and SuperMIX distances. Participants overcame the new format distances consistently, in one day, with a short break.
Artem Parienko, multiple winner and medalist of World Cup triathlon championships and Russia's triathlon champion, became the absolute champion of IRONSTAR ZAVIDOVO 2017. He finished with the best time at both ⅛ and ¼ formats. His total time for the two stages was 3 hours 1 minute.
"I took part in the SuperMIX format for the first time, it was not easy. It was hard to restrain forces during the first race – there is the start, adrenaline, and rivalry! Therefore, the second stage proved relatively difficult. I really liked the track in Zavidovo, especially at the cycling stage. Everything was great!"
