Winners of IRONSTAR 113 Kazan Timerman Cup 2018 Are Named in Kazan
The winners of the "113" and "Sprint" distances were Andrey Bruhankov and Vasily Permitin respectively. The leaders among the girls were Lyubov Polyanskaya — on the long distance and Maria Trubitsina — on the short.
Over 800 triathletes, who chose the "113" distance, were the first to compete. The start was given on the pontoon of Kremlin embankment by a shot from a real wrought-iron cannon. After the swimming stage, which took place in the water area of the Kazanka river, the participants went on to the cycling stage, which route passed through the central streets of the sports capital of Russia. Running, the final stage of the race, was held on the promenade of the Kremlin embankment and ended with a spectacular finish. Leaders on the "semi-iron" distance were Andrei Bryukhankov (03; 55; 03), Dmitry Rostegayev (04; 02; 41), and Roman Evgrafov (04; 04; 40). Among the girls, the winners were Lyubov Polyanskaya (04; 37; 17), Polina Razbitskaya (04; 50; 02) and Valentina Kukrus (04; 56; 38).
Among the finishers of the long distance was Maxim Vylegzhanin, the triple silver medalist of the 2014 Olympics, who completed 5 hours of running in 4 hours, 22 minutes and 33 seconds. Immediately after finishing, Maxim shared his emotions with us:
"I ran for my own pleasure, despite the fact that I set myself a task to cover the distance in4 hours and30 minutes. The atmosphere was great, the fans supported us. Thanks to this, it was easier to run. I am satisfied with my time and physical form. When preparing, I did not do any special exercises, because the training sessions of skiers last more than 4 hours. Do ski races and participate in triathlon events!".
Sudden rain and a gusty wind did not become a hindrance to 450 athletes who chose a short distance. Immediately after the cannon shot they went to conquer the water area of the Kazanka, then they did the cycling stage and ran for 5 kilometers.
Here unconditional leaders among men were Vasily Permitin (01; 06; 02), Alexey Klenin (01; 09; 53), and Ilnar Ismagilov (01; 12; 57). Maria Trubitsina (01; 21; 40), Natalia Tamashajtis (01; 26; 21), and Maria Shinkevich (01; 26; 39) rose on the podium for the winners among women. The awarding ceremony took place on the waterfront stage. IRONSTAR General Director Andrey Kavun and the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov presented prizes and memorable gifts from partners to all the winners of the races, both in the individual competition and in the relay.
"All of you are real champions. For the third year in a row, we have been holding these competitions together with the IRONSTAR team. Every year, we see an increase in the number of participants, and it is good. Tomorrow we are holding test competitions before the European Triathlon Championship, which Russia will host for the first time, and it will be held here, in Kazan. I am pleased to note that from year to year the IRONSTAR team is growing and developing", — said the Minister of Sports of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov in his speech.
