ABOUT THE RACE
SWIMSTAR is a popular series of open-water swimming races held as part of the IRONSTAR sports festival — now in Voronezh. The event brings together recreational swimmers as well as those ready to challenge themselves in open water.
SWIMSTAR races are a great way to add variety to your training and experience something new. After short and repetitive pool sessions, open water gives you a completely different perspective: a sense of adventure before the race and the satisfaction of completing the distance.
If you are an experienced swimmer or trained at a sports school when you were younger, SWIMSTAR can bring the excitement of competition back into your life. Take part in IRONSTAR races and earn ranking points for every event you complete. More information is available on the ALL STARS ranking page.
SWIMSTAR races are also a great opportunity to combine sport with travel and discover historic destinations across Russia. IRONSTAR festival programmes are designed with participants’ travel experience in mind. During the race weekend, you can visit local attractions and enjoy some of the region’s most memorable places.
LOCATION
SWIMSTAR 1K takes place in the centre of Voronezh, in the waters of the Voronezh River near Admiralteyskaya Square.
Participants will race in open water at one of IRONSTAR’s main festival locations. The start area is located near Petrovskaya Embankment and the Goto Predestinatsia museum ship, allowing athletes and spectators to stay at the heart of the festival throughout the day.

SWIMSTAR 1K AGE GROUPS
- Men and women aged 14–19
- Men and women aged 20–29
- Men and women aged 30–39
- Men and women aged 40–49
- Men and women aged 50–59
- Men and women aged 60+
Participants aged 75 and over may take part in the race free of charge by submitting a request through the feedback form and specifying the race they would like to enter.
WETSUITS
Wetsuits are permitted when the water temperature is 22°C or below.
Wetsuit thickness must not exceed 5 mm. If the wetsuit consists of two separate pieces, the combined thickness of overlapping sections must not exceed 5 mm.
Any equipment or devices that may give an athlete an unfair advantage or pose a risk to other participants are prohibited.
The outer surface of the wetsuit must fit closely to the athlete’s body while swimming.
The wetsuit may cover any part of the athlete’s body except the face, hands and feet.
There are no restrictions on zipper length.
Wetsuit pants and shorts may be worn without a wetsuit top.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
To receive your race kit and be admitted to the race, you must provide the ORIGINALS of the following documents:
- Passport
- Medical clearance certificate confirming that you are fit to participate in the competition. See the detailed requirements and certificate template for more information.
- Medical insurance covering swimming-related risks, with minimum coverage of RUB 350,000. Insurance can be purchased during race registration or, after purchasing your entry, in the My Races section of your personal account.
- Parental consent for participants under the age of 18. Please print the template and complete it in advance to make race kit collection faster.
- Power of attorney if another person is collecting the race kit on behalf of the participant. The authorised person must have the full set of documents required for race admission.
A power of attorney can be issued in two ways.
1. Electronic power of attorney
In your personal account, select “Collect by Proxy” and enter the authorised person’s details.
When presenting the required documents at the registration desk, the authorised person should state that an electronic power of attorney has been issued.
2. Paper power of attorney
Print and complete the template. The authorised person must present the power of attorney at the registration desk together with the other required documents.
Please carefully review all document requirements before the race.

Commemorative awards will be presented to participants in the following categories:
- Men finishing 1st–3rd overall
- Women finishing 1st–3rd overall
- Men finishing 1st–3rd in their respective age groups
- Women finishing 1st–3rd in their respective age groups

We use a tiered pricing system. Once all entries available at the current price have been sold, the entry fee will increase.
Discounts and promo codes do not apply to Tier 1 entries.
GIFT CERTIFICATE
An IRONSTAR Gift Certificate is a great present for a loved one, friend or colleague. Simply choose the certificate value, and the recipient can decide which race they would like to use it for.
ENTRY REFUND AND TRANSFER
Refunds are credited to the participant’s personal account balance in the amount of 75% of the entry fee.
Funds cannot be withdrawn from the personal account. The balance can be used to purchase any race entry available at www.iron-star.com.

Entry exchanges, refunds and transfers close at the same time as race registration — 16 days before the event.
